Enactment

In lieu of an artists talk for our 2016 exhibition The Arts Club of Chicago at 100, we presented a performative deconstruction of the exhibition take-away publication, Enactment. The publication centered around a one-sided flexi record featuring an original dance track merging historic lectures by Jean Dubuffet and Gertrude Stein, originally presented at the Arts Club. Using voice generation software, the track re-animated these iconoclastic texts over a club-ready house track. For the performance, we stretched the record out with real-time sampling, improvisation, and activation of the exhibition space.
