Mazes are a Chicago (mainly) based band who have a real sweet sound, mixing elements of New Zealand pop and Americana, all held together with beautiful harmonies and smooth melodies. There is a sense of darkness at the edge of the sunny narratives they create and we wanted to explore this in the poster. Somewhere between David Lynch, Tron and Gotcha, this op art confusion, is probably one of the more graphic images we’ve made in a long time. Exploring flatness, depth, and the tension between the two, we utilized fluorescent colors, split fountains (gradients) and overprinting to create this strange world.
