The Get Up Kids, one of the quintessential third wave emo bands of the late nineties, have recently reformed and are hitting the road again. We were commissioned to make this poster for their stop at the Metro here in Chicago. Referencing the sports imagery used in their earliest releases, we pieced together a vintage football player from a few random sketches and textures. The type treatment marks a bit of a departure for us, as we’ve never made type this large before. The melancholic imagery mixed with poppy colors seemed like a perfect match.
